
Arts, Commerce and Science College, Umadi established in 2002 is an academic offshoot of ‘Sarvodaya Shikshan Sansthan’, Umadi. The Sansthan celebrated its golden Jubilee year in 2011. Educating the masses in thedraught prone Jath Tehsil of Maharashtra, it is a minority institution fine balancing Kannada and Marathimedium education to cater to the special demand of the locality. The Sansthan is a dream come true matter tothe visionary freedom fighter ‘Comrade Late Kallappanna Hortikar’. A committed rationalist had hiscommitted efforts to bring revolutionary changes of inclusive growth amidst the tight traditional society withcaste diversity.
Situated at the fag end of Maharashtra boundary with Karnataka the aspirers of Umadi and surrounding villages had to displace to senior colleges at Jath, 50 and Solapur 90 kilometres away. The girls with geographical, lodging ,and boarding medium of instruction constraints had no option but to discontinue education.
